6:30 PM:  Uncommon Knowledge – Mathematical Challenges to Darwin’s Theory of Evolution with Peter Robinson

Robinson interviews an all-star lineup of scientists in the beautiful and historic Florence Italy.  Philosopher of science Stephen Meyer, mathematician David Berlinski, and Yale computer scientist / polymath David Gelernter discuss “Mathematical Challenges to Darwin’s Theory of Evolution”.  In a little over two weeks, the episode of the Hoover’s Institution’s interview series, Uncommon Knowledge, has already amassed over a half million views on YouTube.

These three scholars have vastly different worldviews but all have concluded that the Darwinian story is sorely lacking.  Their views are documented in Gelernter’s recent essay in The Claremont Review of Books explaining his apostasy from Darwinism, Meyer’s books Darwin’s Doubt and Signature in the Cell and Berlinski’s The Deniable Darwin).

Dr. Gelernter’s relates his personal journey toward evolution skepticism and his testimony about how Darwinism is enforced among scientists and scholars in American universities.
“You take your life in your hands to challenge it intellectually,” says Professor Gelernter, who ought to know. “They will destroy you if you challenge it.”  This comes from someone who has survived not just life in academia, but a terror attack directed at him personally, by the Unabomber, that cost him the use of a hand and an eye.

7:30 PM:  Q&A with MAC speakers regarding the video and creation & evolution topics

8:00 PM:  Ivan Burgener – review of book The Counter-Creationism Handbook by Mark Isaak 2005, 2007.

This is a handbook which has assembled a massive bibliography and detailed index intended for evolutionists to put creationists “back in their proper place” of shame and disgrace.  Ivan will explore some of the many gaps in the author’s reasoning.

About our speaker:

Ivan Burgener serves as a Bible Conference Speaker and as pastor of Affton Grace Bible Church in St. Louis, Missouri.  He also serves on the boards of several other Christian ministries, and serves on the Board of Directors of the Missouri Association for Creation, after many years as Board President.

Burgener retired in 1993 from a career of chemical engineering practiced since 1955 at several local chemical manufacturers and nation-wide offering consulting services to the chemical industry. He holds one patent and has published a paper in 1978 on regulatory compliance of emissions from a coal-gas scrubber handling Illinois high-sulphur coal.

Mr. Burgener received his BS from the University of Illinois in 1955 and his professional engineering license in 1962. Since retiring from Sigma Chemical Company in 1993, he has been inactive concerning engineering pursuits and has concentrated his efforts teaching about creation and the Bible. He has authored numerous short articles for Christian publications and has written “God’s Word for Today,” a book which presents the inspiration, preservation, and translations of the Bible.

“but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence”
